Troop 592 Backpacking Checklist

 

Here is a list of what everyone should have on a regular backpack. This list may also be used for regular campouts. You do not have to bring all the stuff on this list, but it is at your own loss. You MUST have however the ten (actually 11) essentials:

  1. Knife or Pocketknife (blade no longer than 3”)
  2. First Aid Kit (does not have to be extensive)
  3. Extra Clothing (in case you get wet)
  4. Rain Gear (self-explanatory)
  5. Water Bottle (filled with water)
  6. Flashlight (also, possibly, extra batteries)
  7. Trail Food
  8. Matches or Fire Starter (a lighter works also)
  9. Sun Protection (could be a hat, sunscreen etc.)
  10. Map and Compass (for navigational purposes)
  11. The often-overlooked essential: the scout book!
